The Automotive Management Awards 2019

An am-azing evening celebrating the industry’s best and brightest.

AM Awards 2019

The AM Awards 2019 took place last night at the impressive International Convention Centre in Birmingham. In the last twelve months our industry has faced tough challenges, from a decline in new car sales to the very real impact of Brexit on manufacturers, retailers, and ultimately consumers. With this in mind, the AM Awards 2019 were a vital reminder of those continuing to set the highest standards of excellence and making automotive retail relevant to new and traditional audiences alike.

This year’s host for the prestigious event was former model, TV and radio celebrity, and FHM 100 sexiest women regular, Lisa Snowdon. The evening’s after-dinner entertainment was then provided by comedian Hal Cruttenden. But, as well as a captivating presenter and comic relief, there was a time and a place for catching up with both colleagues and technologies impacting our industry: the chill-out lounge was the perfect place for networking, whilst the VR Entertainment Zone hosted by Aston Barclay allowed visitors to escape to different dimensions entirely. Things even got competitive with the Anki Overdrive Racing System and the world’s most intelligent racing course.

Long-term GForces’ clients Gates and Bridgend Ford were both short-listed for Best Website, and we’d like to pass on our congratulations for making the cut. With the award ultimately going to Arnold Clark Automobiles, it just goes to show the standard of the competition was extremely high. All who made it to the top seven set new benchmarks for design, functionality, and user experience.

Marshall Motor Group is another long-term client who walked away with the award for Best Use of Social Media. With great use of video content and their popular #marshallmoments covering everything from events days to new car deliveries, it’s a very worthy win. And congratulations to Volkswagen Newbury, also part of the Marshall Group, who were shortlisted for Most Improved Dealership.

Fellow Kent-based clients Barretts were short-listed for Best Marketing Strategy. A well-deserved and earned nomination.

Our long-standing partnership with Vauxhall gives us cause to also congratulate Westcars of Tiverton, who were highly commended for Best in Customer Service.

Best Aftersales Team was awarded to J. Edgar & Son, a client of ours based in Cumbria. And, in conjunction with our work with Mazda UK, we’d also like to pass on our congratulations to Milcars Mazda for being highly commended in the same category.

Another GForces client, Alexanders Prestige was nominated for both Best Sales Team and Best Used Car Dealer (Independent). Congratulations to them for making it into two categories of what are always hotly contested awards. We’d also like to say well done to Thame Cars, who were also highly commended for Best Used Car Dealer (Independent).

And, two of the nominees for Best Used Car Dealer (Franchised) were also GForces clients, this time, Lookers Skoda of Newcastle and Roadside (Garages).

A number of our clients fought it out in the category of Best Fleet or Local Business Dealer. Norton Way Corporate Sales, Clive Brook Volvo, and Johnsons Fleet Services all made it to the shortlist. Congratulations to Norton way for being highly commended, and to category winners Johnsons.

Aston Martin Cambridge is just one of the many digital dealerships we support through our work with Jardine Motors, and it was great to see them nominated for the Community Hero Award.

Best New Dealership was claimed by RRG SKODA of Bolton, a GForces client about to fully embrace automotive ecommerce via our NetDirector® Auto-e platform.

In turn, Best Dealership was also claimed by a GForces client, Swansway Wrexham Volkswagen, with the previously mentioned Milcars Mazda also making it onto the shortlist.

Our partners EMaC and CAP HPI were both nominated for Best New Product or Service. Congratulations to EMaC in particular for being highly commended.

It was also encouraging to see two of the manufacturers we work with in both the New and Used Car of the Year categories, with the Jaguar I-Pace and Kia Sportage representing respectively. Kia Motors (UK) were also awarded Franchise Partner of the Year.

With so many of our clients represented in multiple categories, it was also no surprise that the people behind them were also up for recognition. Congratulations to Steve Puttock (Westcars of Tiverton), Chris Ward (Milcars Mazda), Karl White (Thame Cars), and Gary Wood (Swansway Wrexham VW), for all being nominated for Dealer Principal/General Manager of the Year.

John Clark Motor Group is a Scotland based GForces client who were recognised for their staff focus too, being highly commended for the AM People Investor Award.

GForces boasts partnerships with global industry leaders and pioneers, helping us deliver unrivalled solutions. CAP HPI, Aston Barclay and iVendi were all nominated for Supplier of the Year, and work closely with GForces. Congratulations to CAP HPI for taking home the prize.

As always, the AM Awards 2019 showcased both the rising stars and those continuously raising the standards in our industry. Our respect and compliments go to everyone who entered, and especially to those who ended up commended or winning on the night. We look forward to another celebration of the industry’s finest next year.
