Fastest hole-in-one goes to…

Former F1 Ace David Coulthard has set the world record for ‘furthest golf shot caught in a moving car’ along with golf pro Jake Shepherd. Whilst Shepherd smashed the ball 275 metres off the tea, Coulthard sped at 180 mph in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster to collect the high flying golf ball in the passenger seat.

A special black golf ball was used in the stunt so Coulthard could see it travelling through the air against the sky and steer accordingly. Though the hardest part was slowing down the car in time with the golf ball losing it’s momentum to catch it.

The viral video called ‘The Catch’ was produced for Mercedes-Benz and was the brainchild of digital agency Weapon7.

Executive Creative Director, Jeremy Garner, said: “The sheer speed of the SLS AMG Roadster, together with the skills of David Coulthard and Jake Shepherd, made this an exciting idea that only Mercedes-Benz could achieve.”
