Wear it Pink for the Breast Cancer Campaign

It’s a terrifying thought, but one-in-three of us will suffer from cancer at some point during our lives. In the UK, over 1,000 women are still dying each month of breast cancer – and it’s a form of the disease that men aren’t impervious to. Thankfully, due to the research that is being undertaken more people are now surviving cancer than dying from it and when it comes to breast cancer, survival rates are higher than ever.

But the research which is allowing more and more people to survive costs money – money which the centrally-funded NHS can’t always afford. It’s why many GForcers have thrown their better fashion judgement out the window and are wearing pink. Yep, as you can see in our group photo we have everything from wigs through to shirt and tie combinations, t-shirts, dresses and more subtle attire. For one day only we’ve moved from our GForces’ blue towards a brighter end of the spectrum. Though it’s unlikely we’ll have a full pink-based rebrand any time soon…

Each year over £2million is donated via Wear it Pink, which goes towards the £16million the Breast Cancer Campaign raises to fund over 100 projects across the UK and Ireland. This research covers the range of issues cancer sufferers face, from early detection, understanding the disease, improving treatment, life after cancer and – importantly – understanding risk and prevention.

Wearing an item of pink clothing isn’t exactly a tall order, and many of us – including some of the chaps – would no doubt have worn pink regardless of its increased relevance today. However, the money we raise for this tiny, tiny bit of effort is going towards hugely important research. In the not too distant future, the money we and numerous others raise will ultimately be responsible for finding a cure for cancer.

Today, our Kent office raised £157.18 for the Wear it Pink campaign.
