If you missed it, well where were you!?
Last night (Wednesday 8th July) many of those who make the UK motor industry tick descended upon the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s prestigious Park Lane for the annual Motor Trader Awards. Occupying no less than four tables, GForces’ contingent was made up of a variety of individuals from within the company as well as guests from some of our clients and delegates from Sky Media, one of our major partners.
Prior to the event beginning GForces put on a reception for our guests, occupying another of the Grosvenor’s suites – albeit not quite as grand as the Great Room. This enabled us to catch up and muse upon the evening ahead, discussing who we think might pick up awards throughout the night. By 7pm we were seated and looking forward to dinner, the entertainment and of course the awards themselves.
The entertainment from legendary TV sporting presenter Steve Ryder was very good indeed and had the room in howls of laughter throughout. After this it was time for the awards themselves.
Firstly we must congratulate iVendi for claiming Dealer Product of the Year for its platform. As a partner of GForces, it was really pleasing to see software that integrates with our own, to help make dealers’ digital dealerships more effective, take home the award. Whilst NetDirector CAP Valuations was also shortlisted in this category, we’re not too sore about being pipped by iVendi!
Our congratulations must also be extended to Ridgeway Group, which won the Social Media Award – richly deserved for the huge engagement generated by #LostBunny, as well as it’s already strong social presence. This wasn’t the only award for Ridgeway, which also scooped the Employer of the Year Award. Bearing in mind the constant talk of recruitment and staff retention within the industry, Ridgeway can be very proud of having achieved this plaudit.
Clients and affiliates also took some of the personal awards. Amarjit Shokar of Romford Mazda took Dealer Principal of the Year, whilst CEO of the year went to Marshall Motor Group’s Daksh Gupta – unsurprising given the stellar year the group has had. Finally, EMaC’s Angela Barrow took the hugely deserved prize for Outstanding Achievement. Angela has worked tirelessly at EMaC to increase the prevalence and understanding of service plans within the industry, and it’s testament to her hard work that she took this prize.
The Motor Trader Awards 2015 was once again a stellar event in the automotive calendar, highlighting how far the industry has come in the last few years. It’s especially refreshing to see how well dealers have shrugged off the difficulty of the recession and are once again making real headway with their businesses. Thanks, too, to Motor Trader for putting on such a show and enabling us to celebrate together.
Here’s to the Motor Trader Awards 2016!
