Bangers 4 BEN is upon us!

It’s crept up on us, but tomorrow the intrepid team comprising GForces’ James Drewett and Harwoods’ Brett Ward will set out on an epic road trip across Europe. The Jaaaag (which has to be said in a suave way) is fully prepped and, as you can see in the pictures, it has been wrapped in a rather fetching livery harking back to the days when Jaguar had an F1 team. It has even had a V10 engine installed*.

Our Jaaaag’s F1 wrap – which was expertly applied – isn’t just to make it look better, by which we mean covering the dents and scratches; this year’s Bangers 4 BEN is themed around F1. In between racking up some serious mileage, the convoy will be stopping at some iconic F1 locations – the schedule looking something like this:

  • Day 1, 10th October: Silverstone, across the channel to Reims
  • Day 2, 11th October: Once the champagne hangovers have gone, Reims to Munich – including a chance to lap the Nurburgring
  • Day 3, 12th October: Once the Octoberfest hangovers have gone, Munich to Spa – including a lap of the track behind a pace car
  • Day 4, 13th October: Spa back to Dover – and the conclusion of the trip.

Now Bangers 4 BEN has a history of pranks and silly business as the teams cross the continent, and it’s going to be no different this time. The joint GForces / Harwoods team has been briefed and is prepared to ‘play the game’ during the trip, so other teams better be on their toes!

We’ve been checking out some of the ‘competition’ on Twitter, assessing their cars, and it’s looking like a classic year in terms of the entries. As well as our F1 Jaaag, there is a limo, a fur wrapped Lexus, a VW Scirocco-based DeLorean and a Proton of some variety. As for who will win the best themed car and fancy dress… we’ll wait and see.

At the moment, we’re just shy of 50% of our £500 fundraising target, so we’d be obliged if you made your way to https://www.justgiving.com/GForces-Web-Management1/ and donated a few quid. If texting is more your thing, then simply text GFHW99 followed by £1, £3, £5 or £10 to 70700 – go on, you know you want to!

We’ll try and keep you up to date with goings on via Twitter as the rally unfolds. See some of you at Silverstone!
