2018 Motor Trader Awards – Our Client Winners

The 2018 Motor Trader Awards marked the industry renowned event’s 28th year. The automotive industry’s answer to the Oscars is always a hugely popular event, even when it potentially clashes with an all-important England World Cup semi-final. Not to be outdone, or stood-up, Motor Trader magazine made sure it was a night to remember, with the game being screened as part of the night’s entertainment. And although the outcome of that particular game might not have gone our way, we’re pleased to say that many of our clients didn’t come away from the night empty handed.

First though, as true petrol heads, we’re extremely pleased to see the exceptional Kia Stinger named as New Car of the Year. The combination of a spacious fastback with room for five, smart connected technology, and super-saloon challenging performance, make it a very worthy winner.

J. Edgar & Sons is a family-owned business in Cumbria, with Nissan, Hyundai and Suzuki franchises. Whether you’re dealing with a family member whose worked their way from the ground floor up, or a highly trained member of the team, you’ll still receive the courteous and helpful attention the company positively insist upon. It’s therefore no surprise to see them awarded the Aftersales Excellence Award.

We’d also like to extend our congratulations to James Appleby of Alexanders Prestige, who was named Business Manager of the Year. Already priding themselves as an award-winning team, we know they’ll be extremely pleased to be able to add to their trophy cabinet.

As one of the most respected names in the industry, Sytner Group were praised on two accounts. First, by being named Dealer Group of the Year, and secondly, in seeing Darren Edwards, CEO, presented with Outstanding Achievement of the Year. Under his leadership, Sytner has grown to become the UK’s largest dealer group. Spearheading the company’s growth through the acquisition of two car supermarkets, Darren has enabled Sytner to generate a turnover of £4.8 billion and profits of £109.4 million. Huge congratulations again to Darren and Sytner Group.

With comedian Hugh Dennis bringing the night to a close, smiles were guaranteed even with the football results. As always, we look forward to next year’s awards and seeing more of our clients “coming home” with Motor Trader Awards.
